Blue Kyoto is a reflection on sobriety, hope, and learning to speak from a place of truth. Blue represents the throat chakra, the center of communication, expression, and the courage to use your voice. Inspired by the legend of the dragon that protects Kyoto, the dragon becomes a symbol of inner protection, transformation, and strength. Its presence represents the power we carry within ourselves, the ability to protect what is sacred while continuing to grow. The painting explores the balance between light and darkness within us. Sobriety taught me that healing isn't about becoming one version of yourself or pretending the darkness doesn't exist. It's about learning to hold both, the shadow and the light, and allowing them to exist together. Blue Kyoto is a reminder to speak your truth, carry your hope, and wield your own light, even when you've had to walk through the dark to find it.
